Student Life and Intercultural Relations Main Content

Student Life and Southern Illinois University is all about community and collaboration.  Students who actively engage in the college process will have the opportunity to stay connected to the university, expand their social and professional networks, and much more.

The many departments within Student Life and Intercultural Relations are here to help our students make those connections and enhance their college experience.  We look forward to being a part of our student’s lives and SIU Carbondale, with twelve departments represented under Student Life and Intercultural Relations we are just a click away.

Center for Service-Learning and Volunteerism

At SIU, we are proud to host Land of Lincoln AmeriCorps, the first national service program in Illinois! Did you know that somewhere in the US, a child gives up on school every minute? As an AmeriCorps member you can change the lives of children who wish to leave school. Make a lasting impact on the lives of children by joining AmeriCorps. As an AmeriCorps member you help children improve their academic and reading skills, reduce absenteeism, and promote a positive view of education. Students selected for AmeriCorps receive a monthly stipend and after completion of service, they receive an education award.
